Toyota is a popular automaker that makes many great cars and some of Toyota’s best models are sedans. After all, since Toyota makes cars that the regular person can afford, the Japanese automaker has a lot of great sedans under $30,000. In fact, Toyota is responsible for making two of the best sedans under $30,000.
1. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid is the best new small car

Consumer Reports says the best new small car is the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. The main reason the Corolla Hybrid made this list is because it improves on the regular Corolla, which is also a nice little car. The Corolla Hybrid’s major improvement over the regular version comes from its superior fuel economy.
On top of that, Toyota sedans are affordable, starting around $23,000. The Japanese automaker has also refreshed the car for the 2023 model year, and one of the differences is that the Corolla Hybrid now has more trim options. As a result, owners can upgrade the trim to their hybrid sedan, which will still cost less than $30,000. Also, like any other Toyota, the Corolla Hybrid will be a safe and reliable car.
2. The 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid is the best new midsize car
Likewise, the Toyota Camry Hybrid is the best new midsize car right now. Like its smaller sibling, the Camry Hybrid wins because it improves on the regular Camry, which is also a great midsize car. Of course, the main improvement comes from the Camry Hybrid having a hybrid powertrain; Thus, it has better fuel economy than usual.
Since the Camry Hybrid is a midsize sedan, it will cost more than the Corolla Hybrid, but it will still be under $30,000. The standard Camry Hybrid starts around $28,000, and just like the Corolla Hybrid, buyers can upgrade to a higher trim and still spend less than $30,000. For example, the SE trim starts at around $29,500. Overall, the Camry Hybrid is a solid midsize car with many good features and few flaws.

Under the hood, the Corolla Hybrid has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain mated to a CVT. It gets 134 hp, which is an improvement on the output of the 2022 version, but it actually has worse fuel economy than before. It now gets 50 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway, 47 mpg combined. That’s about 5 mpg less than what the 2022 model year got from a similar powertrain.
Meanwhile, the Camry Hybrid has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain mated to a CVT, and fortunately, its fuel economy hasn’t deteriorated with the 2023 model year. It makes 208 hp and gets 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway, 52 mpg combined. That said, there is another difference between the two Toyota powertrains. Small Toyota cars can come with all-wheel drive, while mid-size Toyotas don’t have that option.
Inside the cabin, both Toyota sedans have similar equipment. The Camry Hybrid starts with a 7-inch touch screen, but the Corolla Hybrid gets an 8-inch one. The Japanese auto giant has given both cars a long list of smart safety features, including features like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
