Salem City Council’s annual holiday celebrations will return this December. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade will officially kick off the festivities on Friday, December 2nd at 6pm at the Salem Public Library. The highly anticipated Gingerbread Festival and Salem Crafty Christmas will be held the day after Saturday, December 3. The Salem Civic Center will also host the Salem Holiday Market on December 10th and 11th. Please take a moment to review these scheduled events.

City Christmas Tree Lighting at the Public Library and Ridgeview Bank Parade

Join us for the City of Salem’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 2nd at 6:00pm on the lawn of the Salem Public Library. This tradition brings the community together to view beautiful decorations on downtown Main Street and enjoy holiday music before the Salem Christmas Parade begins at 6:15 pm and travels west to east on Main Street. Gingerbread Festival at Salem Museum and Longwood Park

The Salem Parks and Recreation Department, the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce and the Salem Museum will present this year’s Gingerbread Festival at the Salem Museum and Longwood Park on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See incredible culinary creations, take photos with Santa, warm up in fire pits, visit the petting zoo and enjoy children’s activities, vendors and the Holiday Train.

Salem Crafty Christmas with Craftsmen

The Salem Farmers Market and the Salem Parks and Recreation Department are bringing you a “Salem Crafty Christmas” on Saturday, December 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Handmade crafts, artisan items, greenery, baked goods, cheeses, eggs and more will be available for holiday shopping.

Salem Holiday Market

This Craft and Vendor Show is once again a two-day event in 2022 at the Salem Civic Center. It will feature unique artisans, artists and direct sales companies. Homemade crafts and local delicacies from more than 70 area vendors will be featured at this year’s Salem Holiday Market. Admission to the event is free, but shoppers are encouraged to help the Salem/Roanoke County Food Pantry with a donation of non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, boxed pasta, canned vegetables and spaghetti sauce.
