The Cubs Convention is back, and so is the Ricketts family panel.
The Cubs on Thursday unveiled the schedule of events for the 2023 fan festival, which will return from Jan. 13-15 after a two-year hiatus and include an ownership panel for the first time since 2018.
Cubs president Tom Ricketts cited a lack of interest on that panel for dropping the schedule in recent years.
The Cubs have drawn the ire of fans on social media this offseason, with many of their top free agent targets off the board. The interest in that panel – scheduled for the 2nd day of the convention – will be high.
The convention opens on Friday, January 13th at 5:00 PM with a “Red Carpet Special” on the Marquee Sports Network. Ricketts will then deliver opening remarks.
Some notable events and tables organized on Saturday, January 14:
– “Baseball Operations Update” with team president Jed Hoyer and general manager Carter Hawkins
– “Ross and the Coaches” director David Ross and Co.
— A live episode of Ian Happ’s “The Compound” podcast
— “On the Mound” — with Jim Deshaies and the Cubs’ pitching staff
— “Business Operations Update” with entrepreneur Crane Kenney
– “The Road to Wrigley” with top Cubs prospects
Cubs Bingo and the Kids Only Press Conference, two fan favorites, will be held on Saturday. “Harry Carayoke” is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and a youth baseball/softball clinic with current and former players on Sunday.
