Here are local author and book events from December 16th to January 19th.

• Mrs. Claus will be reading Clement C. Moore’s “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Friday from 6-8:30pm at The Read Queen Book Store. Mrs. Claus will be accepting donations of new books for distribution to the Sister Carmen Community Center;

• Illustrator Heather Brockman Lee will read “A Poem Grows Inside You” by Katey Howes at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Wandering Jellyfish Bookshop; free – $23;

• Betty LaVelle and Gini Rifkin will sign their books at noon Saturday at the Used Book Emporium;

• The Banned Books Club will discuss a nonfiction book Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the George Reynolds Branch of the Boulder Public Library;

• First Thursdays Book Group will discuss its January book “Carnival of Snackery: Diaries,” by David Sedaris, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Longmont Public Library;

• Great Ideas Reading Group published “Great Books of the Western World, Vol. 2”, Jan. 5, 3:00 p.m., Longmont Public Library;

• Kelly Weber will debut a collection of poetry called “We Are Changed to Deer at the Broken Place” on January 7, at 6:00 p.m., at Trident Booksellers and Cafeteria;

• The Diversity Book Club will discuss George Takei’s “They Called Us the Enemy” on January 10th from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the George Reynolds Office of the Boulder Public Library;

• Book Queeries will discuss “Hell Followed Us” by Andrew Joseph White on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Out Boulder County. A free copy of the book will be given away while supplies last;
