BOLINGBROOK, IL – With the end of the year fast approaching, the Forest Preserve District of Will County has announced their planned events for 2023. In Bolingbrook, area residents can look forward to events at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center.

The first event in the program is the Earth Day Festival that will take place on April 22 at the center. You can learn how to reduce your carbon footprint, and the event will include vendors, hands-on demonstrations and s’mores.

Other nearby events include:

  • Travel Stories Exhibition: 10:00-16:00 Tuesday-Saturday and 12:00-16:00 Sundays, February 1 to April 30, Isle a la Cache Museum, Romeoville. This traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibit examines how movement has shaped the nation, from early settlers and the displacement of Native Americans to the effects of advances in transportation on modern mobility.
  • Farmstead Frolic: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, Riverview Farmstead, Naperville. Visit the farm for old-fashioned fun, building tours, a farmyard petting zoo, and to learn about the importance of Will County agriculture, past and present.

In addition to the big events and exhibitions, there will also be many mini-events, including a Triple Crown Challenge, fishing derbies at Hidden Lakes Trout Farm, a Surf and Turf concert at Monee Reservoir, Canines and Cocktails at a dog park and the ever-popular den Woods Walk hiking challenge, said the preserve.
