AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Now that Thanksgiving is over, here are some events to celebrate the holiday.

There are events for everyone, children and adults, along with a variety of community service programs to give gifts.

Events for children

Evans on Ice- Nov. 14-Jan. 8. This magical event features an expansive outdoor ice skating rink and holiday parties.

Light up the holidays with Georgia Power December 7-26. Georgians can enter the Light Up The Holidays contest on our Facebook page by posting a photo of how you’re lighting up the holidays using the hashtag #LightUpTheHolidays for a chance to win a variety of prizes.

Toy Giveaway – December 10, 9 to 11 a.m., James Brown Arena, May Park on Fourth Street. To register, bring identification, social security card and birth certificate for all children between the ages of 1 and 10. You can also register online.

Photos Santa- December 10-11, 2:00 PM, Le Chat Noir 304 8th Street, Augusta Ga.

Santa Claus at Top Dawg- December 14th, 5:30-7:30pm, 2821 Washington Road, Augusta Ga. Children will take a photo with Santa in the Kids Club.

Pure Stocking Fund

Thanks to this program, parents can choose which toys and gifts they want to give their children. Parents go online to apply and register their child, upload proof of benefits, and once approved, parents shop in an online e-store to select gifts from their child’s wish list. After shopping online, parents choose to receive their gifts at one of our three local CSRA partner Empty Stocking Funds.

This year, pickup locations will be at Hub East, Augusta Technical College, and the Boys & Girls Club headquarters located at Augusta Technical College in Grovetown.

Aiken Animal Shelter Christmas

Sometimes we forget about homeless pets during the holiday season. The SPCA Albrecht Center decorated their halls with animal wish lists. You can visit the Willow Run Road location Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to meet a new friend and make your Christmas wish list come true.

UPS Operation Santa – November 28- December 19, Volunteers verify their identities to help fulfill the holiday wishes of children and families who have written to Santa.
