5G is increasingly becoming more accessible to more regions and more phones across the country, with the country’s largest telecom company, Safaricom, leading the way.
When Safaricom officially launched its 5G network in early November, Apple’s devices were unable to access the network. Android devices like OPPO Reno8 5G, OPPO Reno7 5G, OPPO Reno6 5G, OPPO Find X5, Vivo V25 5G, Vivo V23 5G, Infinix Zero Ultra, Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G, TECNO Camon 19 Pro 5G, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G already had access to the network before the official announcement.
With Apple’s latest software upgrade, iOS 16.2, you can now access Safaricom’s network. The upgrade will be rolled out for the iPhone 14, 13, 12 and iPhone SE 2022.
Go to Settings on your iPhone:
settings -> General -> software update
After installing the update, go to the settings page and toggle between 4G and 5G options.
