Kicking off the Rams for the sixth year Community Blitz days of service, the team partnered with Nickelodeon, to host a shopping spree at Walmart for over 100 children (ages 5-14) served by The Salvation Army. The Rams rookie class, Rams Cheerleaders and front office staff are paired with a child and take them shopping for up to $200 in holiday gifts, courtesy of the Rams.
Cornerback TJ Carter was paired with 5-year-old Dylan and connected immediately. When they got together, they made a Christmas list and immediately started shopping. Dylan chose a number of toys including a Black Panther mask, Jurassic Park dinosaurs, sunglasses and Spiderman’s bike.
Today means a lot to me, we went out today and blessed many children,” said Carter. “I made a list for Dylan and I was able to get him everything he wanted. Every time I go out to be with the kids, I love it because I miss my time at home. It’s just been great to be with my kids. You’ve been a blessing to these kids and put a smile on their faces.”
Inside linebacker Jake Hummel was shopping with 10-year-old Anthony what was most important to him when he was shopping for household products for his family, other than his toys. On her Christmas list she wrote that she needed clothes, shampoo, body wash, and finally toys. She was consumed by the joy of holiday shopping with Jake.
“I haven’t done anything like this since I was in high school, so it’s great to be able to get back into the community and help the kids directly,” Hummel said. “Anthony is really smart and hard working. His goal is to take care of his family first. Being here with these kids during the holidays is great.”
