Communities throughout Oswego County kick off the holiday season with festive activities and many thanks after Thanksgiving. Take advantage of a variety of family fun events throughout the region, including Christmas tree lighting, craft fairs and more!

If you love to see Christmas lights, visit Demon Acres Deck the Halls for a singing 30-foot mega tree lighting show. The event features a concession stand, photos with Santa and a wagon ride through the woods with 125,000 Christmas lights. Deck the Halls will be from 5pm to 9pm on Friday 25 November, Saturday 26 November, as well as 2-3 December, 9-11 December and 16-18 December. Demon Acres 341 Co. Enjoy ice skating at Cullinan Park on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Skateboard rentals are available for $2 per person. Public skating is free for city residents. Family Skating Tuesdays 6-7pm and Saturdays and Sundays 5:30-7pm Public Skating is Fridays 8:30-10pm and Saturdays and Sundays 7-10pm Cullinan Park is at 281. W. Fifth St. in Oswego.

Find unique holiday gifts at the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau’s Christmas Craft Show. The show will feature more than 52 craft booths, raffles and food will be available for purchase. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Club, 132 W. Fifth St. in Oswego.

Christ the Good Shepherd will be holding their annual White Elephant Sale with a variety of items to purchase. There will also be many basket raffles. The event will take place at the San Jose Catholic Church on Saturday, November 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The church is located at 240 W. First St. in Oswego.

Bring the family to a local tree lighting over Thanksgiving break! The City of Oswego is hosting its 35th Annual Tree Lighting and Fireworks at the Donald R. Hill Civic Plaza on West First Street. Along with the tree lighting, the free event will include a visit from Santa, carriage rides, music, activities and more. Activities begin at 3:00 p.m., with the tree lighting at 6:00 p.m. Fireworks over the Oswego River begin at 6:05 p.m.

Visit Mexico for its annual holiday tree lighting at Village Gazebo Park! Live entertainment will feature Michael Paul Callahan as Elvis. Refreshments will be served, and the tree will be lit after the animation. The festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m

Small Business Saturday

Do your Christmas shopping locally on Small Business Saturday! Many Oswego County businesses will be offering product specials and sales.

The City of Oswego Downtown Visitor Center will be transformed into a Holiday History Shoppe, opening Saturday, November 26 and continuing weekly Thursday through Saturday from noon to 7:00 p.m. Several local historical societies and non-profits will be on holiday. History Store

Visit the H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s Treasure Chest gift shop from November 27th through Wednesday, November 30th to save on all items in the store during Santa’s Secret Sale! Draw a card and play with 10% to 40% off your entire purchase. The Treasure Chest Gift Shop is open from 1-5pm Sunday through Saturday, located inside the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at 1 W. First St. in Oswego. on the pier
