JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Friday said it is investigating after several reported thefts from parking lots.

The Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of a man they identified as Margarit Paun, 39. JSO said he is believed to be part of a group of people who go to others pretending to sell them jewelry, asking for directions or to pray with them. .

“During this encounter, the suspects often place jewelry on the victim’s hands, while at the same time removing the jewelry from the unsuspecting victim,” JSO wrote.

The people in question, JSO says, have been seen in various late-model SUVs, and the incidents have been reported mostly in store parking lots. The Sheriff’s Office released photos of three people believed to be related to Paun. (Click here for a link to their photos)
