New Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV Outsale 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Why Here? | auto news | Jobs Reply

The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been in the news for quite some time now. The biggest reason behind the popularity of the new Grand Vitara is that the SUV delivers an industry best mileage of 28 kmpl. Also, it is the most expensive car from India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki and gets powerful hybrid technology with multiple industry best features. There is another such SUV, with powerful hybrid technology that gives a mileage of up to 28 kmpl – the 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider. Interestingly, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is based on the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider and shares almost the same mechanicals, platform and features.

Despite this, Maruti Suzuki sold 4,433 units of the Grand Vitara SUV in November 2022 while Toyota managed to sell only 3,116 units of its Urban Cruiser Hydra. This is one of the few cases, where the original car is selling less, while the car based on this SUV is selling more and there are multiple reasons for these high sales.

the engine

Both Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder come with two powertrain options. Both of them get a new 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is also coupled with powerful hybrid technology. The E-CVT is available in the Strong Hybrid variant. At the same time, a 1.5-litre petrol engine is available in the mild hybrid setup, offered with a 5-speed MT and 6-speed AT. AWD (optional) is also offered on manual variants of Grand Vitara and Highrider.

the price

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara prices range from Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh. Whereas the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is priced between Rs 10.48 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. It competes with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Tata Harrier in the market.

Dealership Network

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has a very dense and well-established dealership and service center network, ranging from multiple dealerships in one city to even Tier 3 and remote areas of India. On the other hand, Toyota caters to most metros, tier 1 and tier 2 cities.
