Pre-Christmas events have been scheduled in the area | Jobs Reply

December 22—If people can’t gather with their families for Christmas, they can still have some events to enjoy.

—-Before December 25, activities will be organized to gather and have fun in various areas of the town.

Chief among them is Sk8bar’s “Merry Sk8mas Party and Potluck” with a variety of performers and a community potluck on Saturday, December 24th at 9pm at 501 Francis St.

“The holiday season can be really hard on people if they don’t have family,” Sk8bar co-owner Brandon Rock said. “We did a potluck for Thanksgiving and people seemed to really enjoy it. So we thought we’d do it again.”

The event begins at 9:00 PM with a potluck and music by The December, Tim Leland and Mary Beth Rosenauer. Although people are asked to share a dish, it is not necessary.

Rock said the idea is for everyone to celebrate as if they were part of one big family in the Sk8bar community.

“It’s going to be like a bunch of friends getting together,” he said.

The event caps off a successful first year for the skate shop and bar. Rock said that they enjoyed feeling the love and good vibes this year and that they have planned more for 2023.

“We met a lot of really cool people… It was a really cool year. I was really impressed. And we’re looking forward to what next year has in store,” Rock said.

If that’s not your speed, there are plenty of other events this weekend. All events and activities are subject to weather conditions:

“Christmas Karaoke” (Fri., Dec. 23, 8 p.m. at Unplugged, 2605 Frederick Ave.): If you want to belt out some tunes after a day of gift hunting, Unplugged will provide the backdrop and microphone.

“Brown Bear Christmas Pajama Party” (Fri., Dec. 23, 7 p.m. Brown Bear Tavern, 2028 St. Joseph Ave.): Brown Bear will celebrate with drink specials and a hot cocoa bar. Everyone is encouraged to show up in their most comfortable pajamas, but they also arrive in regular clothes.

Santa at East Hills Mall (Dec. 23-24. East Hills Mall, 3702 Frederick Ave.): If you haven’t gotten around to telling Ol’ Saint Nick what you want, you still have two other options. It will be at East Hills Shopping Center from 11am to 7pm on Friday December 23rd and from 10am to 4pm on December 24th.
