Private 5G operator chooses Datenzentrum North for Sweden | Jobs Reply

Reykjavik-based atNorth will use its data center in Kista, in the Stockholm suburbs, to provide high-performance indoor 5G networks in Sweden.

Duke Aschan (pictured), Sales Director of atNorth, said: “Proptivity not only enables a premium telecom-grade service that offers gigabit performance, low latency, high reliability and security, but the company is paving the way to a more sustainable future for mobile indoor networks.”

Proptivity provides multi-operator Gigabit 5G networks to property owners in Scandinavia and the Baltics. All operators in the Swedish market are connected to the same network to ensure mobile users, regardless of their operator, have access to the best high-performance 5G indoor services – what Proptivity calls Gigabit 5G.

“Commercial property owners want to be able to deliver the best possible digital infrastructure, and 5G is seen as a critical part of that,” said Mikael Lundman, CEO of Proptivity. “Gigabit 5G capabilities in the building will enable a digital innovation platform that offers opportunities such as energy optimization, security and workplace efficiency for building facilities and tenants.”

He added: “atNorth’s commitment to sustainability, including its focus on implementing initiatives such as heat recovery to contribute to the circular economy, was key to our choice of atNorth. Its ability to reuse generated heat for Stockholm residents, as well as its innovative use of northern hemisphere air to cool its facility, has proven to be great energy savings compared to traditional centers, which is also a hugely important factor for us.”

Two weeks ago atNorth – formerly Advania – announced that it is building an IP network to enable its expansion into Iceland and other Nordic markets. The company has selected Nokia to supply the hardware for the core switching data center’s leaf platforms.

Aschan said, “Property owners and renters need secure and fast indoor connectivity, especially with data consumption exploding.”

He added: “Sustainable IT is at the heart of our business and we are delighted to help Proptivity deliver high-performing coverage with a secure, always-on connection. Environmental sustainability starts at the bottom, and Proptivity benefits from our high-performing, energy-efficient and sustainable colocation infrastructure.”
