TORONTO, December 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Shabodi, the next-generation 5G application enabler, announced today that it is ramping up $10.3M in an oversubscribed Series A round led by CEAS Investments and SineWave Ventures to help companies accelerate the development and deployment of network-enabled applications on Advanced LTE, 5G, Wifi 6 and 6G. Existing investors Blumberg Capital and Counterview Capital also participated in this round, along with 5G Open Innovation Lab, Green Egg Ventures, Maccabee Ventures, Supernode Ventures and Vishal Gupta, Global CIO and CTO at Lexmark. Experienced Telecom Entrepreneur and Shabodi Investor Joe Beatty joins investors Bruce Taragin by Blumberg Capital and Vishal Makhijani on the board of Shabodi.
That Toronto-based company was founded in 2020 by a startup veteran Vikram Chopra and former CTO of Cisco and Juniper Networks Harpreet Geekee. earlier this year, Ramesh Kazaan early investor and former Global Head of IoT at Cisco, joined Shabodi as President & Chief Commercial Officer to support the company’s global expansion.
“We founded Shabodi to address the real-world challenge of simplifying enterprise-level advanced network innovation (LTE, 5G, Wifi 6 and 6G) for application developers. For developers, the network has always been viewed as a “black box,” the paradigm that enables Shabodi, as 5G promises to overhaul the way businesses build and deploy applications that are no longer constrained by connectivity requirements, he said Vikram ChopraCEO & Co-Founder, Shabodi.
“The impact of the pandemic and other global geoeconomic challenges are challenging the status quo for sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, mining, oil and gas and others, prompting them to evolve their business models to take advantage of 5G opportunities. Our vision is to lead this transformation from the front with our Application Enablement Platform (AEP), guiding customers with deeper insights into how their applications interact within the network and delivering “network-ready” applications for faster ROI on their 5G investments,” said Added Chopra.
“Private 5G promises to give businesses the speed and security they need to transform customer and employee experiences. Shabodi is well-positioned to address enterprise challenges along this journey by simplifying and accelerating the creation and deployment of 5G applications,” said Joe Beatty, a long-time telecoms entrepreneur and now a Shabodi investor and board member. “The company’s application enablement platform is contemporary. Many global companies have already started to deploy 5G and are either already looking or will soon look for solutions to maximize usage and ROI. I look forward to working with Shabodi on their journey and can’t wait to see how they enable 5G innovation for businesses.”
5G Open Innovation Lab, NSIN drive, and IDC are among the industry organizations that recognized Shabodi’s contribution to the future of advanced networking. 5G is still in its infancy globally, but Shabodi is already enabling mission-critical use cases on behalf of its customers. For example, in 2022, Shabodi supported AI image processing – streaming multiple videos over a network in a production facility, using API calls to allocate resources to support high-quality videos. Another organization uses remote rendering of a digital twin application over 5G and uses API calls to improve video quality and reduce latency.
Shabodi continues to demonstrate the meaningful impact its technology can have on businesses across all industries as 5G increasingly becomes a critical enabler for growth,” the company said Bruce TaraginManaging Director, Capital Blumberg, who led Shabodi’s seed round last year. “5G will shape the future of enterprise technology and we believe Shabodi will be a crucial partner for enterprises, system integrators and telecoms as they prioritize efficiency, flexibility and reliability in their 5G deployments.”
Shabodi’s foundational platform enables enterprises, system integrators and telcos to build next-generation applications in a multi-vendor environment to tap into the exponentially more powerful 5G network. Shabodi’s team includes former industry executives from Cisco, Juniper Networks and Nortel. For more information visit www.shabodi.com or keep following Shabodi LinkedIn.
