The best Depop Shopping Hacks to get sales, according to experts | Jobs Reply

I’m a self-proclaimed fashion historian and I cringe whenever I get to breathe the same air as an iconic designer. Recently, a salesperson at my favorite vintage store informed me that the oldest piece in the store was a real Charles Frederick Worth and I nearly fainted. Well, unfortunately, my patience for hunting for vintage pieces does not match that force.

As any thrift shopper knows, there is a careful art to finding a diamond in the rough. The idea of sorting through racks of haphazard vintage doesn’t appeal to me. And as a plus-size girlie, the lack of size identification makes it difficult to find hand tools that fit curvy bodies. So when I’m in the mood to uncover a vintage treasure, I turn to Depop.

But just like shopping in person, there are tricks of the trade – secret hacks, search strategies, and more that will help you uncover the best items at the cheapest price. Beforehand, I chatted with the Depop team, got tips from Depop’s most dedicated shoppers, and added some of my professional hacks to get great deals. That and more, ahead.

Use Filters

Searching for a brand name or style may bring you thousands of results. For me, reducing the size narrows the search down a lot, helping to find exactly what I’m looking for without aimless scrolling. Adrienne Reau, a content creator known for her vintage finds, says she uses the filter feature to find low-priced gems.

“If I’m looking for something specific — say, a vintage coat — I’ll type that in and use the price filter option. “I always put the toggle at $15 and under, and you’d be surprised how many amazing pieces you can get for cheap,” Reau told Bustle. “I think of people [are] you’re shocked to see that beautiful clothes don’t have to cost an arm and a leg!”

Take Advantage of the Depop Community

I love buying closets that I love (shout out to Tess Holliday’s Depop store), because you already know things are going to be fun. I also recommend that you look at what the promoter said you liked. This often leads me down the shopping rabbit hole, pointing me to new sellers. Depop’s Instagram page is also a great resource for finding sellers to express yourself about.

Reau says he likes using the app’s suggestion feature. “I always start by checking my ‘recommended’ folder for gems, because Depop finds similar items based on your preferences and previous saves. I always find a lot of good pieces this way,” he explained.

“I also love looking at random people’s likes folders — I’ll just find something I like, click on a random user who also liked it, and go through their likes folder. Maybe this is crazy, but it’s a great way to find things you might not otherwise have discovered.”

Make Art With Your Donation

Reau says the creativity he offers has led to great news. “Don’t be afraid to make an offer — 95% of the time, the seller is willing to lower the price just because they want the item to go,” he explains. “You can message a Depop seller if you like two or more items from their store and ask for a combined price, or discounted shipping.”

A Depop spokesperson also highlighted a new feature that makes participation easier, saying: “Our ‘make an offer’ feature allows you the opportunity to communicate directly with the seller to find a price that both parties are comfortable with – that’s really a community concept.”
