With the holiday season quickly approaching, Redwood City has several festive events to experience this month, all of which are sure to get you into the holiday spirit.

Valota Road light show

Every night at 18:30 and 20:00 until January 1, 2023, the Valota Road light show event will showcase dazzling light displays choreographed to various music (which changes from night to night).

Community event attendees can sit in Red Morton Park and enjoy the light show. Guest parking is located at 1455 Madison Ave.

Free movie at the Senior Center

On December 16, at 1:15 p.m., there will be a screening of the 2021 film. spencer at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center (VMSC).

The film will be shown on the projection screen at the VMSC Theater and will be free to all. There will also be a snack bar before the movie from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

Free art classes

Casa Circulo Cultural is hosting a day of free art classes on Saturday, December 17th from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and 3:00pm to 4:00pm.

All artistic abilities are welcome to attend classes, but space will be limited and first come, first served.

Classes will be held in the Kindness Corner, which is to the right of the main entrance.

Christmas story show

On Saturday, December 17, at 12:00, the Casa Circulo Cultural Youth Theater Group will present a performance. Christmas stories performance

Christmas stories It’s a story about a girl named Penelope, who is trying to keep her younger siblings busy while their mother collects presents in the next room.

The show will weave many classic holiday stories, but with hilarious twists.

Walks to the union cemetery

Free one-hour walking tours of Union Cemetery will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 10:00am and 1:00pm.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the early pioneers of Redwood City and San Mateo County.

In addition, residents can visit Union Cemetery to view the array of wreaths placed on veterans’ graves from December 17th through New Year’s. The wreath was donated by the DAR Wreaths Across America program.

Third Annual Holly Jolly Home Decorating Contest

This week is the last week to enter the Holly Jolly Home Decorating Contest.

Residents who want to show off their twinkling lights and spectacular holiday decorations have until Sunday, December 18 at 11:59 p.m. to enter the contest.

The competition is free to enter, and winners will be chosen from three categories: Merry and Bright, Holiday Spirit and Incredible Inflatables.

Before the judging, a map will be put up for residents to walk around and enjoy all the screens.

13. Chanukah Festival

The 13th Chanukah Festival will be held in Courthouse Square on Sunday, December 18 at 4:15 p.m.

During the event, attendees will be able to watch graffiti artist Ankor create Norcal’s first graffiti menorah.

There will also be Hanukkah arts and crafts, music, moon bouncers, and delicious latkes and donuts.

The event is free to attend, and anyone who RSVPs in advance will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon gift card.

Holiday camps

This month, several summer camps are being held around Redwood City for kids to participate in.

  • From December 19 to 21, there will be a Basketball Camp with the National Athletics Academy for 7-12 year olds. Half-day and full-day camps are available. Click here for registration information.
  • There is an All Sports Holiday Camp with Yepsf from 19th to 21st December from 8.30am to 3.30pm for ages 5-13. Full Day Camps are available. Click here to register.
  • From December 19 to 23, World Cup Soccer Camps and Clinics will be held for 5-13 year olds. Half-day and full-day camps are available. Click here to register.
